Common Challenges, Uncommon Cities - Mega-Projects April 20, 2010 The OMEGA Centre has a unique approach to the use of story-telling in its investigation of decision making in the planning, appraisal and delivery of Mega Urban Transport Projects (MUTPs). This methodology was derived from a variety of projects in ten countries throughout Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific. This lecture explores the key findings on the aplication of this methodology to the Centre's first UK Case Study, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) — built in a strategic regional planning corridor of SE England (the Thames Gateway) near London, much of it a massive brownfield undergoing major economic/physical regeneration — and assesses the relevance of these findings to "mature established areas" such as New York and "new virgin areas" such as Abu Dhabi.
