I did it again. This was arguably a harder seed compared to my first completed run, where I immediately got a Travers dog tag with the locker right next to it and had no rats in the infamous rat tunnel. There was much less waiting around, with new shortcuts and strats implemented. Additionally, no escape menu pausing to not give myself free thinking time so it's more on-the-fly. Generally speaking, you're never fully confident with the choices you make on this difficulty, and also because the damn monster is always present wherever you go, lights on or off, doesn't matter. Always make sure to listen to which direction it's crawling, bait it into other areas and juke the bastard with closets, T-junctions or corners - the point is to rotate areas frequently whenever it spawns, as it is the only way you can have some freedom to explore as much as you can for fuses, loot and key items. Even though this was a harder seed, I got an early lighter so I went to town with some molotovs en route to the Pillbox. Before any of that however, one of my strats was to head straight to the Prison after lifting the lockdown, finding the brick ASAP and breaking the door down, along with the one that needs bolt cutters, as that door always contains a medikit and has a high chance of a pocket bag spawning there. I got a Travers and a Millard dog tag which were a godsend, but the locker for Travers I discovered very late into the run, right before handling Arsenal and the Roman Tunnels. Nade shortcut at 50:40 - Since I already had the bolt cutters, I didn't necessarily have to do it, but I used a lineup to nade the door lock in the Fuel Storage area, creating a shortcut. If you get an early Travers locker before the lockdown(just like in my first playthrough), it makes the whole area way easier, since you will never have to deal with the rat tunnels and use precious resources, not to mention the gigantic timesave. If you try to attempt max difficulty or Shell Shock, I recommend you learn this grenade setup. Hold W into the corner like I do until you can't budge, line your crosshair up on the right side of the letter 'E' on the 'Fuel Storage' sign, and lower your aim till your crosshair touches the top of the railings. With some practice, you can hit it with 100% consistency. I was going to do Arsenal without the generator, but then out of nowhere I open up that random box right before the door and voila - last fuse! Immediately I changed my plans and turned over the generator, making sure to run the water pump before heading into Arsenal, then going straight to the Roman Tunnels. After that, it was a straight shot into the welcoming arms of the Germans. This run did have some hairy moments, have fun finding them! I am hoping some brave soul from the HPL speedrunning people sees this and tries speedrunning max difficulty glitchless, perhaps even completing the whole thing under an hour with a multitude of strats and the more extensive knowledge they possess.
