Fear can't be the reason you don't recover. — Fear can’t be the reason you don’t honour your physical and mental hunger. Fear can’t be the reason you don’t quit compulsive movement. Fear can’t be the reason you don’t go to that restaurant and order what you want. Fear can’t be the reason you don’t take rebellious action. — Walking headfirst into your fear is part of the recovery process: ‘Feeling the fear but doing it anyway’ — Changing engrained behaviour patterns causes fear. Going against neurally wired pathways causes fear. Doing something new or different causes fear. Doing something that didn't work out as planned last time causes fear. — But if you let fear be the decider in whether or not you move forwards in your recovery then, sadly, the reality is that you will likely never reach a place of ED freedom. — Right now your reason for not doing what you know you NEED to do isn’t time, or money, or knowledge; it’s fear… fear and doubt. — Fear of the unknown. Fear of change. Fear around the many doubts that your ED has sewn. Fear of commitment. Fear of failing. Fear of judgement. Fear of trusting your body. Fear of trusting the process. — And none of that fear is going ANYWHERE without self-actioned change so turn your attention to what you are going to do WITH it. — What about taking RADICAL RESPONSIBILITY of your recovery and taking action in-spite of your fear? — Fearful BUT ordering the takeaway. Fearful BUT eating that giant bar of chocolate. Fearful BUT pouring yet another bowl of cereal. Fearful BUT driving to McD’s because you fancy it. Fearful BUT letting your partner/parents/friend cook dinner with all the oil and cream and cheese. Fearful BUT tucking into the meal anyway. Fearful BUT resisting the urge to move and sticking another film on. Fearful BUT letting your body do what it needs to do. Fearful BUT continuing to respond to your mental hunger Fearful BUT doing it. — Fear can’t be the reason you don’t recover. — So what are you going to do WITH your fear today?
