Golf is already hard enough, which is why I try to make it simple. When I chip, I either play a low chip with the ball at the back of my stance, or I play a higher, softer one with an open clubface and the ball positioned toward my front foot. I’ve found that chipping from the middle sometimes plays with my mind, as I don't firmly decide what kind of chip I want to hit—whether high or low. When I play a chip with the ball either forward or at the back of my stance, I know exactly what shot I'm trying to hit, and this alone removes a lot of doubt. Most chipping situations can be covered with these two methods. You can, of course, adjust how open your clubface is or how far back in your stance you position the ball based on the shot you're facing. You can hit a much lower shot by placing the ball farther back, or you can play a much higher one by opening the clubface more. This allows for creativity and room for adjustments while also giving you a clear idea of the shot you're trying to hit. This helped me a lot, and I know it can help you too when done correctly!
