In this jazz guitar lesson, I break down a Bireli Lagrene–inspired sweep picking line built from a minor7♭5 (half-diminished) arpeggio. This line uses the exact same fingering in two different octaves, making it easy to play fast while staying clean and controlled. I also demonstrate the sweep picking approach Bireli uses so you can execute the line smoothly at higher tempos. Beyond the line itself, I show four practical ways to superimpose a minor7♭5 arpeggio to create new harmonic colors in your solos. Finally, I apply this concept to a minor ii-V-i progression, moving the same shape to fit each chord so you can immediately use it in real jazz standards. If you’re looking to improve your jazz guitar sweep picking, expand your arpeggio vocabulary, and play more fluid ii-V-i lines, this concept will give you a powerful, reusable shape you can take into any key.
