Steadfast Trust - Ceremony at the Harold Stone, Battle 2011

Once a year, the Steadfast Trust charity and supporters make the journey to Battle, East Sussex, on the nearest Saturday to 14th October. There, a solemn procession through the grounds of Battle Abbey takes place, culminating in readings and wreath laying at the spot which is said to mark where King Harold Godwinsson was felled by the Normans in 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. On the Saturday evening, the 'Feast for the Fallen' takes place for Trust supporters - a traditional old English meal, featuring food that would have been available at the time (no potatoes!) and live entertainment in the form of readings and music, for 2010 & 2011 from Cancionero, an early music ensemble based in Kent.
