Japanese kids are taught to keep their mouths shut until the other person is done talking. That’s why if you keep talking non-stop for an hour, we will endure a whole hour without uttering anything meaningful. Kyoto people basically follow the same code of conduct but they’re a special kind of Japanese people because they have a unique way of hinting that you’ve talked too much. So you’re going on and on about statistics for a sport that the Kyoto person doesn’t even know the rules of, and suddenly, the Kyoto person says: いやースティーブさん、ええ時計してはりますな Steve-san, you’ve sure got a really nice watch. He compliments your watch. And you’re like, “Thank you.“ But what the Kyoto person is trying to convey is, “Please notice how much time you have expended babbling!!” Enjoy Kyoto ☺️❤️ ▶︎ Hi, I’m Kyota, the author of Amazon Best Sellers [Folk Tales of Japan], [Underdogs of Japanese History], and [Horror Tales of Japan].
