On this tour, you'll get to see how the soldiers and their families lived and fought during one of the most difficult times in American history. This is a unique experience you won't want to miss! We take you on a driving and walking tour of Valley Forge, the winter encampment of George Washington, and the Revolutionary forces. Valley Forge was the Winter home for Washington, Hamilton, Lafayette, and thousands of Continental Soldiers fighting for freedom. Washington chose Valley Forge as the winter encampment for his 11,000 men along with approximately 500 women and children who accompanied them due to its proximity to the occupied Philadelphia and also it was high ground. The area surrounding Valley Forge was easily navigated by Washington and the troops prior to winter setting in, however, the winter of 1777 was harsh and their supplies were low. A quarter of the men stationed here either died in local hospitals or deserted due to the horrific conditions and lack of provisions. We were honored to visit this site and remember the men who bravely stayed the course and stood by Washington and the dream of freedom from tyranny. Here are the links to the videos we mention.
