Unnao Gangrape Case: SC to hear plea for CBI probe

After the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued notices to BJP UP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the prime accused in Unnao gangrape case, and demanded an explanation from Uttar Pradesh Police, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea for a CBI probe into the case. The SC will hear the case next week. Also part of the plea by a lawyer is compensation for the rape survivor's family. Victim's father, Pappu Singh, succumbed to his injuries after he had been allegedly mercilessly thrashed by the MLA's brothers and supporters on April 2. Entire incident has put the UP State Government and police department into shame. Trying to refute allegations of custodial death, the state police department had suspended six policemen .
