Established in 1956 by their mother, the Tan siblings have held firm the making of traditional Huat Kueh. Symbolising luck and prosperity, it is often used for religious praying. Every 15th of the lunar calendar month, the siblings would be busy making Huat Kueh. Sweet potato balls are also handmade at the stall. Each one is big, plump, and packed generously with either peanut or vegetables. Other popular items are fried carrot cake, pumpkin and yam cake sticks, amongst others. As making Huat Kueh is a tedious process, it is a rare sight nowadays to see it handmade in hawker centres. But who knows, you might be lucky enough to chance upon Mdm Tan making her Kueh!
