Surah Ala is the 87th sura of the Holy Quran and was revealed during the Meccan period. This surah, consisting of 19 verses, contains short but deep and wise verses in terms of meaning. The surah deals with the glory of Allah and His power of creation, His guidance to show people the right path, the importance of devotion to Allah and belief in the afterlife. The word "Âlâ" means "the most exalted" in Arabic, so the surah is used to mean "Allah the Almighty". Main Topics of the Surah 1. The Greatness and Power of Allah At the beginning of the sura, the greatness and power of Allah are expressed. The first verse is "سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى" (Glorify the most exalted name of your Lord) and it is reminded that Allah should be glorified and His glory should be exalted. This is a call for man to appreciate the Creator and understand His greatness. 2. Creation and Order In the second part of Surah Ala, Allah's power of creation and the order in the universe are explained. The verses "He created and arranged; ordained and guided" indicate that Allah created beings perfectly and determined everything in order. In these verses, the harmony in the universe and the place of man in this order determined by God are emphasized. It is stated that God plans everything and sets a measure for everything, and that this measure manifests itself in the harmony in the universe. 3. It is stated that those who believe in God, worship and turn to Him will be rewarded in the afterlife, while those who disbelieve will face difficulties. 5. Afterlife and Eternal Life It is emphasized in the surah that life in the afterlife is more important than life in this world. “You prefer the life of this world. However, with the verse "The hereafter is better and more permanent", it is reminded that the life of this world is temporary and the real home is the afterlife. While these verses remind Muslims of the temporary nature of worldly blessings, they emphasize that the blessings in the afterlife are permanent. This encourages people to live a life aimed at gaining God's approval, without being caught up in worldly life. Virtues and Messages of Surah Ala Surah Ala gives many important advice to Muslims, both with its content and messages. Our Prophet (pbuh) recited this surah especially in Friday and Eid prayers and drew attention to the meaning of this surah to Muslims. Reading this surah is a step towards understanding the importance of glorifying Allah, understanding the greatness of the Creator, choosing the right path and awareness of the afterlife. Additionally, there are signs in the hadiths that those who read this surah and apply it to their lives will attain happiness in this world and the hereafter. This sura, which succinctly summarizes the basic principles of belief in Islam, gains meaning as a divine message that calls Muslims to the path of Allah, informs them of the transience of worldly life, and directs them to eternal happiness.
