Red willow hollow form - turning a dyed and lacquered hollow form.

This is a piece of willow I got from another local wood worker/tree surgeon. I'll go ahead and warn you if you do get a freshly cut load to leave it outside for 3-4 days. It will ooze slimy white seriously smelly crap all over your floor. Willow is a tree that loves water. The wood is soft and extremely light! I don't really have an idea on what the finished product will be most of the time or the shape unless I'm going for an idea. I dyed it red, because well, I wanted to play around lol. The wood had small white specks in the grain and I thought it might look pretty cool. In the end it all looked the same color except for some curling and spalt. I tried to give the dye a blue/turquoise marble look, it shows more in sunlight, was just hard to catch in the camera angle. Layered it with about 10 coats of lacquer, let it cure, then wet sanded and buffed. There are a few bug holes and places in the bark that have small pits, but that's ok for this test piece.
