This is certainly not the tightest playalong of this song on Youtube. I was really amazed to discover how many playalongs there are of it !, you can't seem to pass this one if you're serious about playing some funky bass... or maybe it's required material in music academies nowadays, because quite some playalongs are perfectly executed technically but lack in tone authenticity or feel. I actually only discovered this song in 2012, even though I was a fan of the acid jazz spin-offs in the late '80s-early 90's (Incognito,The Brandnew Heavies and such), so this one must have passed under my rader at that time. Anyway, this is my 2 cents. Could have thrown some 20-30 more takes at it in the hope of getting it tighter and with better timing etc. but hell... maybe some of you just enjoy hearing the isolated bass in the intro, or the sound of a genuine '66 Jazz Bass directly plugged-in with only minimal EQ (cut a wee bit of treble, boosted a wee bit of low), or the way I mix my bass in so that it is very clearly discernible from the original (some other playalongs don't get this mix right, resulting in their sound being drowned in the sound of the original), or maybe you just enjoy my staccato pronounced way of playing :). Hm now that I think of it... I might throw in a Tower of Power-style version, because the influences of Rocco Prestia's staccato playing is clearly to be heard in this bass line.
