January in Rovinj 🇭🇷 Why January by the Sea Is Pure Magic

January 2026 finds me in Rovinj, where I’ll be staying until January 30. It’s my very first time visiting the sea in winter, and my first time in Rovinj and Istria after many decades. I usually travel to Dalmatia and the southern coast of Croatia, so this experience feels completely new and refreshingly different. Rovinj in winter is calm, elegant, and incredibly beautiful. The weather changes gently... sunshine, wind, and even a little rain, but every moment feels special. The sea has a raw, honest beauty that you don’t often see in summer. I’m staying in a hotel full of amenities, which makes winter by the sea even more enjoyable. There’s an indoor seawater pool, a spa and wellness center, sauna, gym, bars, and many other facilities, so there’s never a dull moment. Even on windy or rainy days, the experience remains relaxing and inspiring. This trip reminded me that the sea doesn’t need summer crowds to be magical. Rovinj in January is peaceful, authentic, and full of soul.
