Welcome to another Geez photowalk where I'm sharing the street and documentary photography experience, one shot at a time! This is part 2 of a couple of special episodes covering the Notting hill Carnival in West London. This particular video is about the main parade day on the bank holiday Monday of the last week-end in August. All Mas bands are out with magnificent costumes and are performing on the outskirts of the Notting Hill area. Within the Parade circuit, streets can take you to various sound systems blasting Caribbean music while food stalls are tempting you with the smell of spicy food. You cannot go wrong with the Notting Hill Carnival and it is an amazing even to attend and photograph. After two years without carnival due to the Covid pandemic, this one was extra special. I cannot do justice to the NHC and a proper documentary would be necessary to present it properly. Created in the 60s by the West London Caribbean community, it is an interesting fact that the biggest street party in Europe has Caribbean origins. Bringing 2 millions people every year, it can gets really busy but the mood and the vibes are so worth it. From a photography point of view, there is so much to capture!
