Dr. Mullner is a hand fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon with expertise in hand and upper extremity surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, congenital hand conditions, and complex limb trauma. Her clinical focus includes treating hand and wrist fractures, nerve compression syndromes such as carpal and cubital tunnel, Dupuytren’s disease, trigger fingers, and arthritis of the hand. She also offers specialized care for patients with congenital hand differences and those recovering from traumatic injuries or amputation. With additional training in lower extremity microsurgery, Dr. Mullner helps patients recover from chronic wounds, tumors, and complex injuries to the leg and foot. She has a particular interest in tetraplegia and targeted reinnervation procedures to improve function or relieve pain in patients with limb loss or paralysis. Dr. Mullner completed her undergraduate studies at Clemson University before earning her medical degree, general surgery internship, and plastic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. During her fellowship at the University of Kentucky, she trained alongside national leaders in hand trauma, congenital hand surgery, and nerve reconstruction. Now, as an assistant professor in surgery, she brings her expertise back to MUSC to advance reconstructive and hand care across the region. Dr. Mullner is also a dedicated educator and researcher, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on upper extremity trauma, nerve injury, and microsurgical reconstruction. She has presented her work nationally and remains actively involved in clinical research and resident education. She has received numerous awards for teaching, academic achievement, and surgical excellence. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Mullner is passionate about global health and has participated in surgical mission work in Ecuador, providing reconstructive care to children with congenital and traumatic hand conditions.
