#watertreatment #publichealth #water Biggest Water Treatment Plant Ever 😱 | PHED Junior Engineer Life CONNECT TO IG: / nomadicsurvey In this video, I take you through the complete water treatment process, explaining how raw river water is converted into safe drinking water before it reaches our homes. As a PHED Junior Engineer, I explain each stage of treatment step by step, based on actual field practices followed in large Water Treatment Plants (WTPs). 🔹 Step 1: Raw Water Intake from River Raw water is collected from the river through an intake structure and conveyed to the treatment plant for further processing. 🔹 Step 2: Aeration Process The raw water is passed through an aerator to remove dissolved gases, improve taste and odor, and increase oxygen content, which helps in better chemical reactions during treatment. 🔹 Step 3: Coagulation & Flocculation Alum is added to the water to destabilize suspended particles. Slow mixing helps form flocs, which trap impurities and make them easier to settle. 🔹 Step 4: Clariflocculator In the clariflocculator, heavy flocs settle at the bottom due to gravity. The clarified water flows out from the top, while sludge is removed periodically. 🔹 Step 5: Filtration (Slow Sand Filter) The partially treated water is passed through a slow sand filter, where fine particles, bacteria, and impurities are removed through physical and biological filtration. 🔹 Step 6: Chemical Treatment Lime is used to adjust pH and reduce water hardness. Bleaching Powder is added for disinfection, killing harmful bacteria and ensuring the water is safe for consumption. 🔹 Step 7: Storage in Underground Reservoir (UGR) Treated water is stored in an underground reservoir tank for stabilization and maintaining adequate supply. 🔹 Step 8: Pumping to Overhead Tank (OHT) Water is then lifted using pumps to an overhead tank, from where it is supplied to consumers through gravity. 🔹 Step 9: Distribution to Public Finally, safe and treated drinking water is supplied to households through the distribution network.
