Hello Everyone, Bhai Lal Ji belongs to the seventeenth generation lineage of Bhai Mardana Ji (1459-1534), the beloved Muslim companion and lifelong musical partner of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, the founder of the Sikh faith. For over 24 years, Bhai Mardana Ji accompanied Guru Nanak Dev Ji across India and Asia, playing the rabab while the Guru sang divine shabads and revealed sacred verses. He is remembered as the first raagi in Sikh history, the one who gave sound to the Guru’s word. In this recording, Bhai Lall Ji (seated at the centre harmonium) continues that sacred musical heritage. A devout Muslim deeply versed in Sikh philosophy, he is said to know much of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by heart. His father once served as the Hazoori Raagi at Goindwal Sahib, and today Bhai Lall Ji remains devoted to the ancient tradition of Gurmat Sangeet. In the 1970's video, performing beside him are his brother, Bhai Irshad, and his cousin, carrying forward the same spirit of unity and devotion that once flowed between Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji.
