The National Education Policy (NEP 2020) envisions a transformative shift in India’s learning ecosystem — yet several key design gaps continue to limit its practical impact. In this 6th episode of the Ragguru Education Reform Series, we examine three crucial blind spots that deserve deeper policy attention: 🔹 1. NEP and Subject Expert Institutions (Modern Gurukuls) The policy overlooks ways to integrate specialized institutions — such as dedicated music, dance, or art schools — into the mainstream education system. A modern framework could allow such centers of excellence to retain their specialization while still aligning with national curricula. 🔹 2. NEP and Self-Evaluation Techniques NEP misses an opportunity to promote continuous, technology-enabled self-evaluation as part of formative assessment. When languages and social sciences are taught through redefined, creative techniques, self-evaluation can dramatically improve learning quality. 🔹 3. NEP and Multiple Boards & Exam Systems The policy remains silent on the coexistence of State Boards, CBSE, ICSE, and others, and does not question the dominance of examination-centric evaluation. A forward-looking reform must redefine what “assessment” means beyond marks and memorization. 🎥 Watch this episode to reflect on: How can NEP 2020 evolve to truly democratize expertise, personalize assessment, and simplify India’s fragmented school ecosystem?
