Shore Line East is a commuter-rail line in the State of Connecticut, mostly funded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT). Shore Line East runs trains mostly between Old Saybrook, and New London to New Haven, with limited weekday-peak service to Stamford. In this video we're on board Shore Line East Train #3626, the weekend local train from New Haven Union Station to New London Union Station. The trip between the two stations takes little over an hour, covering 51 miles between the two points. Our top speed on the line is 80 MPH. The stations stops are New Haven-State St., Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, and New London. Shore Line East trains operate in "push-pull" configuration, where the locomotive leads on Westbound trains, while on Eastbound trains the locomotive pushes from the rear, while a cabcar leads the train. Today our train is lead by Mafersa Cabcar #1713 with ex-Amtrak GE P40DC #838 shoving from behind. Video recorded on Sunday September 30, 2018 with an Apple iPhone 6S. Rendered using Sony Vegas Pro 15.
