BMG (Behind the Masterful Groove) Series Episode 1: Haruna Makiyama This "BMG" series delves into the behind-the-scenes stories of bassists active in the session scene. In the first episode, we feature Haruna Makiyama! She shares insights about her favorite basses and pedalboard. ● Profile Haruna Makiyama Born in Kumamoto Prefecture. She started playing the electric bass at the age of 10 when she joined her elementary school's big band. During junior high, she began performing at local jazz clubs and started her music career, primarily around Kyushu. In 2017, she studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she learned jazz, Latin music, and Black music. After returning to Japan, she based her activities in Tokyo and joined "PAJAUMI (パジャマで海なんかいかない" in 2021).
