This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Lara Alexiou gives a personal story about her experiences with the body as a structure of that can either stand strong, or crumble. Lara Rubin Alexiou is originally from Bryn Mawr, PA and a Temple University graduate. Owner of Steamtown Yoga, Lara certified in Bikram Yoga in 2003, Barkan Method Hot Vinyasa Levels 2/3 in 2008 and 2014 and has over 500 hours of Medical Qigong certification with Zen Wellness. She opened Steamtown Yoga in 2007 and in 2013 moved the studio into the heart of downtown Scranton. She is also a Certified Business Mentor with Zen Business Bootcamp. She travels the country and the world with her husband John, studying Yoga, Qigong and the Eastern Healing Arts. Lara is excited to address the broader perspectives of space and architecture: space within the body and the mind, the architecture of the body, and how someone's outer world and what someone creates on the physical level is a reflection of their inner world. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
