Introduction to Photonic Disaggregated Computing Architecture - Shigeru Kotabe, Fujitsu The continued expansion of high-speed networks has great potential to create new value by tapping into the enormous amount of data available from interconnected endpoints. Increased computing power is required to process and analyze an unprecedented volume of data, with more accuracy and granularity than ever before, coming from the vast number of sensors and other data sources. Conventional computer architectures would require a large number of computing devices, leading to greatly increased in power consumption. Instead, we propose a photonic disaggregated computing architecture. The architecture has three key features: reconfigurable devices for flexible hardware allocation, device to device communication to reduce CPU loads, and direct photonic connections between devices. In this talk, we will describe the proposed architecture and use cases.
