WHAT TO EXPECT Your lips will scab and then start "peeling" at approximately the 2-3 day mark. You must follow your aftercare until all of the scabs have come off. This will be approximately 5-7 days after your tattooing appointment, for some clients longer. The scabs must remain on your lips until they are ready to come off naturally. The colour underneath will seem dull or faded at first, and then it will develop back through (and continue to develop for up to 30 days). Your healed result will likely be too "soft" or possibly patchy after your first session. Cosmetic tattooing is a two-step process. During the first session we focus on creating a base, whilst in the second session we focus on achieving desired saturation. You will return for your complimentary touch up session within 6-12 weeks. At this point the original tattoo should still be intact (even though it’s too soft). If you experience low retention you may require more than 2 sessions to achieve desired results. DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING: -No kissing. -No spicy or very hot food. -No boiling hot drinks. -Avoid making exaggerated facial expressions. -Do not wet the area, except for during your aftercare routine. -No sweating! Yes, even in Cairns. This means no exercise, long steamy showers, baths, or long outdoor adventures during the middle of the day. ---Stay in the AC as much as possible. This step is important! -No touching with your fingers or picking the area - this could lead to an infection, pigment loss or scarring. -No direct sun exposure (wear a hat). -No makeup, skincare, spray tan, sunscreen or other products near the area. -No waxing near the area within 4 weeks. -Avoid sleeping face down. -No filler or botox near the area within 4 weeks. -No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser or any other professional facial treatments within 4 weeks. DO THE FOLLOWING: -Keep the area as clean as possible. -Keep the area as dry as possible. -Brush your teeth carefully. -Drink through a straw & cut food into small pieces. -Avoid masks if possible, or replace your mask regularly if covid regulations require that you wear one. -Every morning & night: Apply a small amount of soap (provided) to a clean cotton round. Rinse slightly, and squeeze the excess water out. Use this to pat the area gently. Pat the area again with a dry cotton round. Re-apply a thin layer of aftercare gel (you will purchase this on the day). Re-apply aftercare throughout the day when your lips feel dry. 1 WEEK POST TREATMENT, WHY IS THE COLOUR IS GONE? During the healing process the tattooed area will become darker, and minor scabbing will develop as new, collagen-rich skin forms underneath. This new skin is slightly opaque in colour and creates a temporary ‘veil’ over the pigment. You will start to see this as the scabs flake off. It will make the pigment appear faded and dull. Within a few weeks, the new skin will settle and the colour will return. Protect and nourish this new skin as directed below.
