Back in October we picked up two albums by renowned Donegal fiddle player Seamus Gibson at the annual Donegal Fiddler's Gathering. In fact these are his first solo CDs and they were highly anticipated (we played them over and over in our house since). There’s a live recording called "Fly By Night" featuring concert performances by Seamus and his long-time playing partner Dermot Toland, guitar. The second CD is called "The Dropper Bell" where we hear Seamus accompanied by Altan’s bouzouki player Ciarán Curran and Derry guitarist Ciaran O’Kane. Now we are happy to introduce Seamus Gibson on our trad- and folk music platform Gypsy Wagon TV and to anyone who doesn't know him yet, you'll be in for a treat. You'll will find this Reel set on his album "The Dropper Bell", so it's the famous McFarley's Reel followed by the Gooseberry Bush. Just a few word about Seamus: Now based in Letterkenny, he grew up in a musical family in St. Johnston, another Donegal area steeped in music and full of musicians. Among them were his uncle, fiddle player Tommy Peoples and his father, Eddie Gibson, a noted mandolin and fiddle player. Below you find Seamus contact links where you can order his CD's or indeed book him for events. https://seamusgibson.com/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... Here on Gypsy Wagon TV in the hills of Donegal we are proud to be able to promote wonderful musicians, showcase talents, give them a stage on this tiny platform. Often musicians look for special venues, a niche platform and this is what this tiny Vardo offers. It has a beautiful natural acoustic and music or showcase recordings are done low tech with no need for mics and amplifiers. This creates a natural sound and even if we record outside the wagon the acoustic carries strong and blends in with the natural surroundings of a woodland. So if you as a folk or trad musician (not just Irish traditional music, which surrounds us here, but also world music, Bluegrass, you name it) and are looking for a small, but special venue, please feel free to contact us! You find Gypsy Wagon TV also on Facebook and Twitter. And yes, you can bring any acoustic instrument along. Fiddles are big favorites here as you see in above video. But that's because fiddle music is very strong in this area of Donegal and some members of our family are also enthusiastic fiddle players. But we have also accommodated other instruments, even a double base or cello. It is a joy for us to connect with all these very different musicians with different backgrounds. #gypsywagontv #irishtraditionalmusic #irishfiddle
