Matt Ngesa quickly returns with another tune for your merrymaking, with the long-awaited rock song “River!” The track is co-produced by Newman Owor and flaunts the tried-and-true sound of rock and roll. The song was released on Thursday, 25th May 2023. River is an energetic declaration of liberty and an exciting pounce into the Western sound that Ngesa grew up listening to and loving. Bold and bathed with a reassuring message the song is an encouraging anthem and cry to the bowels of the things Ngesa wants: dancing and singing infused with the influential energy of music performed by the pop kings of old. The heart of the song is best represented by the charging chorus: Going down the river I’m going down the river Oh I’m going, going Going down the river Heard the tale of the man from African soil He’s bobbing his head to the old town boys Tapping his toes, feeling the groove Going down the river to rock and roll The big band energy presented in the song was assembled and arranged digitally by Owor and Ngesa. The thumping, commanding drums marching to the river banks for a triumohant exodus were programmed by Victor Mbogo who then masterfully finished the production and engineering of the project for the ears of the casual listener, as well as for the technical exploring ears of the Dolby Atmos consumer. Lyrics: Going down the river sounds alright And it goes smooth butter on toast Jams are the most fun I've had since 10 years old I'll never look back, and it hurts my soul Going down the river just my style Should've known voice bred for the rock and roll life The times swirling and twirling since 20 turned I've never looked back, and it hurts my soul Going down the river Said I'm going down the river Oh, I'm going going going going Going down the river Going down the river I'm alright Current feels good and the price just right Oh, sun on my face, love in my heart I'll never look back, no never look back Going down the river (what should I do) Bring a taste of heaven down with a tune Joy in my bones, dance in my soul Going down the river to rock and roll Going down the river I'm going down the river Oh, I'm going going going going Going down the river Heard the tale of the man from African soil He's bobbing his head to the old town boys Tapping his toes, feeling the groove Going down the river to rock and roll Yeah yeah yeah Mmm yeah Hey hey ho (oh nah nah) Going down the river to rock and roll Going down the river I'm going down the river Oh, I'm going going going going Going down the river Heard the tale of the man from African soil He'll never look back Said no he'll never look back (never look back) Going down the river to rock and roll Going down the river I'm going down the river Oh, I'm going down the river Going down the river to rock and roll Hey yeah hey yeah hey yea hey Hey hey hey Written by Mathew Obunde
