A woman named Ramsha Rafeeq, born in Pakistan, has lived in Dharmavaram for the past 19 years. She came to India with her mother in 2005 when she was seven years old. Ramsha's mother, Zeenath Peeran, is the daughter of a man from Karnataka who migrated to Pakistan during the Partition. Zeenath married her maternal nephew from Dharmavaram in 1989. In 1998, while pregnant, Zeenath visited her ailing father in Pakistan. Due to the outbreak of the Kargil War, she couldn't return immediately and gave birth to Ramsha in Pakistan. This resulted in Ramsha acquiring Pakistani citizenship. Ramsha has lived and studied in Dharmavaram since 2005. Despite living in India for so long, Ramsha did not initially apply for Indian citizenship. She renewed her Pakistani passport in 2018, which is valid until 2028.
