No schools left in Gaza: How teachers rebuild education in tents

Israel’s war has devastated Gaza’s education system, leaving classrooms destroyed and lessons held in tents and makeshift shelters. Teachers struggle to continue lessons under harsh conditions, with trauma and displacement affecting both learning and focus. Hundreds of schools have been damaged or flattened, including many run by UNRWA. Thousands of students and teachers have been killed, injured, or forced to flee their homes. Psychologists say widespread trauma has severely impacted children’s ability to learn. Some schools now serve as shelters for displaced families, while others are overcrowded.
