Rachel Kelly is a Knowledge Broker at the Centre for Marine Socioecology at the University of Tasmania in Hobart (nipaluna), Australia. She oversees the centre’s approach to end-user engagement and research uptake in the context of informing marine and coastal (and climate) issues and solutions. In her seminar, Dr Kelly presented three studies exploring how institutional structures and practices can support interdisciplinary research, especially engaging and developing early career researchers (ECRs) and their capacity. She also described two training programs. The presentation highlighted the need for, and value of, engaging ECR skills and perspectives in interdisciplinary research, particularly for identifying and co-creating visions of the future. The seminar was moderated by Professor Iain Gordon, President of NITRO-Oceania. The seminar was held online on December 1, 2023 and was organised by NITRO-Oceania: the Network of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research Organisations in Oceania.
