Driving over mostly gravel roads in North Iceland. Following the 864 to see the Hafragildfoss, (32 min 30 sec) and the Dettifoss (East Side) (37 min 46 sec). Then off camera (1 hour 14 min) we went back North on the 862 and took a look at the Dettifoss (West side) We were following the coast line counter clock wise, include unpaved roads, avoid motorways. Driving in a 2WD Fiat Ducato Professional, upgraded from 3.3 ton to 3.5 ton, VB-FullAir suspension on all wheels. It is a 2X4 so NOT a 4x4. In my past 4x4 WAS a wast of money and diesel.I do know now we take it right on the edge of getting stuck sometimes. Just wish I had some decent recovery points at the front because the original front tow point is shit and can only be used in a strait line. The Navi is a Garmen Overlander that also shows very nice places to camp. Navigating the shortest roads between two points, include unpaved roads. It is really the nicest way to get your self into interesting problems. We are definitely NOT Riding on Camper Tyre's with 5.5 bar pressure.\The VAN has Cooper Discoverer A/T3 235/75R16 MS Tyre's 3 bar max pressure! Mostly I ride with the Tyre's at 3.0 bar, if the road turns to off road I go down to 1.5 bar. A 12V 35 year old air compressor. (I shit you not) 2 very cheap plastic Recovery Track Mats never used them. A 3 meter 3 ton tow rope. one time used to get a stranger out of the snow.
