“This was a totally avoidable accident, the death of my husband could have been prevented,” said the grieving wife of a 66-year-old former army official who died after his scooter bumped into a pothole on the water-logged stretch of road near Bal Bharti Public school in sector 4 of Kharghar in Navi Mumbai on Friday. The deceased identified as Ronald Gomes, a retired Major who resided in Raghunath Vihar of sector 14 under Kharghar was returning from Belapur when his scooter bumped into a pothole at around 11.30 am on Friday. “The lives of the citizens should matter which has no value in our country. We are the ones who make politicians. I am very disappointed that my husband had to leave the world in such a way,” she lamented.
