The ninth album from New Jersey’s Baerdcyn, which unfolds as a weathered grimoire left open beneath a patient sky. Across its span, the project does more than display instrumental proficiency, it summons a quiet ancestral current, threading lute, mandolin, Irish whistle, saxophone, bowed psaltery, and melodica. There is a rare tactility to this work, as if each plucked string feels fibrous, each breath through whistle seems to stir dust motes in forgotten folklore stories.
