Originally from Yorkshire, nearly 40 years ago, she sailed from the UK on a boat and never swam back. Having raised a family, run a successful cleaning business, midlife coaching practice, and eco farm, she has now ‘retired’ between the sea and the mountains. Today, Kay’s weekly beach-cleaning walks turn ocean plastic into bold art, raising awareness of plastic pollution and toxicity. Her art has been featured in local exhibitions and community talks, and the new series What the Luna Tide Brought In is exhibited at Sa Bassa Blanca Art Museum in Mallorca, where Kay invites viewers to see discarded materials anew: not just as pollution but as remnants of a lifestyle worth rethinking. Kay is ‘secretly’ writing a memoir for her first grandson, now five months old, sharing stories of expat life, motherhood, personal loss, walking the Camino, living in Zanzibar, and rebuilding a simpler life. Her message is clear: midlife and beyond are times for reinvention, where activism can be quiet and creative, and an “average” life can be extraordinary.
