In this episode a very early anonymous German (?) pianoforte from ca. 1785 is compared with a Viennese fortepiano by Michael Rosenberger from around 1800. See how rapidly the early piano of Mozart’s day evolved. Riko Fukuda plays J. Haydn: Adagio from Piano Sonata Hob. XVI:6, W.A. Mozart: Sonata in E flat major KV 281, 1st. Movement Adagio, and - L. von Beethoven: Sonata (Moonlight) no.14 op. 27-2, 1st movement, Adagio sostenuto. Edwin Beunk is an internationally acclaimed restorer and collector of early pianos. In the course of time it transpired that a new world opened up for many when they came to view the collection, amateur players, students, and professionals alike, even for some world famous pianists.
