A Water Pump Station and The Skelpies (not the Kelpies)

Recorded 16th June 2024 Only me Alie and Cooper the dog. We took a quick look at a 19th century water pump station. Then down to see the sculpture of The Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow or The Skelpies which was given to it by the locals. It stands next to Ferguson's Marine, the last remaining shipyard of the lower reaches of the Clyde. Two 14 tonne, stainless steel, of around 33 feet high pay homage to the shipbuilding and industrial past of the town. They were designed and built by artists John McKenna. These sculptures are a must to see. Impressive and at night they are lit up. Bay Street Mural was officially opened in 2023. It depicts shops from the 50's and 60's.
