"Just Take a Walk in the Zoo" Music Video Filmed at the L.A. Zoo

As part of the Zoo's Black History Month celebration, we've collaborated with author Tommy Morrow on a music video inspired by and featuring artwork from his book "Just Take a Walk in the Zoo." The song is sung by Tommy's wife and frequent collaborator, Kimberly Morrow, and the video stars Tommy's grandchildren, who inspired the book. In her foreword to the book, the CEO and director Denise M. Verret, who is the nation's first female African American director of an ‪@AssociationofZoosAquariums‬ -accredited zoo, says, "Zoos are a place for people to come together – to learn, explore, and have fun – across generations and cultures." She adds that the L.A. Zoo is "actively working to ensure that zoos, nature, and conservation are truly welcoming spaces for all. 'Just Take a Walk in the Zoo' depicts that future and I am proud to write the foreword for a book that shows African American and other children of color that a zoo is a place for them."
