Distributor: Shock Entertainment (Australia) (under license from FremantleMedia) Release date: June 4, 2014 Description on the back cover: “Grojband is a hilarious new comedy featuring four wannabe rock legends where any and all mood swings are welcomed! Corey Trippen starts a garage band with his three best friends and quickly realizes that the band sucks - like a lot. It’s not their music or ever-changing image that’s the problem; it’s Corey’s lack of lyrics. But then…Corey finds his sister’s diary, “full of teen angst and junk”, and decides to use each diary entry as lyrics - and it totally sounds like pure awesomeness! Now to ensure the band’s continued success, Corey has the nail biting task of making sure his sister continues to feel life’s ups and downs. Because without the diary and Trina’s melodrama, the band is sure to fade to black…” The opening is exactly the same as the one found on disc 1, and there is no closing this time around because disc 2 has no special features, so the only one of my obligatory overview lists that will be included in this description is… EPISODES INCLUDED ON THIS DISC: 8.) “All You Need is Cake/Helmet” 9.) “Space Jammin’/Wish Upon a Jug” 10.) “Super Zeroes/A Knight to Remember” 11.) “Line of Cred/Hair Today, Kon Tomorrow” 12.) “On the Air and Out to Sea/Ahead of Our Tone” 13.) “Love in the Nethervator/Six Strings of Evil” Notice how the episodes are organized. It’s not the order that they aired for their original broadcasts on Teletoon and Cartoon Network, but rather the order in which they were shown for their original telecasts outside of North America. For this particular disc’s included episodes, the international broadcast order also matches the show’s production order. I’ve got a crazy plan that just might work! I’ve already covered The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Totally Spies, and Johnny Test, the top 3 on my poll determining which WildBrain and/or Corus Entertainment-owned shows would get to have their DVD releases dumped onto this channel first, so now it’s time to finally get to the series that ended up in last place on said ballot: the criminally underrated Fresh TV series Grojband! If you’re a fan of the series, be honest: you probably didn’t know it even had a DVD release. Well, not only was the show put out on disc at all, but all 26 episodes were officially released on the format, split into two volumes. Here’s the catch, though: they were released exclusively in Australia, and that combined with the show’s relative obscurity when compared to sibling shows Total Drama and 6Teen has led to the two DVD sets of Grojband to become extremely expensive on places such as Amazon and eBay. Those prices got even crazier once FremantleMedia sold the rights to Grojband and their other children’s shows to Boat Rocker Media in 2018, causing the Grojband DVDs to both go out-of-print. Luckily, I was able to get both DVD sets for my birthday in 2015, back when they were relatively easy to buy imported for a good price. Even better, despite the packaging claiming that they’re Region 4 discs, Grojband’s DVD releases are actually region-free, meaning that they work on my North America (Region 1/A) Blu-ray player! Since this underappreciated masterpiece is turning 10 years old in June of this year, I figured that there’s no better time than now than to finally start uploading the entire contents of the elusive DVD releases of an almost equally elusive show. Sure, all the episodes of Grojband have been uploaded onto YouTube before, even in videos done by me for my main channel, but now you can binge through an entire bunch of installments in one upload, and also get to see certain episodes on this website without that annoying KissCartoon watermark on the left corner of the screen for the first time! Now that the order in which they’ll be covered has been established, I’ll continue making videos featuring the contents of my DVDs for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Totally Spies, Johnny Test, and Grojband in the order I just listed those four shows in until I run out of discs to cover. This guarantees that the Mario Brothers; Alex, Sam, and Clover; and Corey, Laney, Kin, and Kon will each get to have four videos all to themselves. Once I’m done with all of them, however, then Johnny and Dukey will be paired up with fellow meme-worthy icons Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats until I run out of discs in my very big Johnny Test DVD set to cover.
