Terchire, Adrobaa, Susuanso, Afrisipa, and Yamfo are the communities in the Tano North District of the Ahafo Region of Ghana expected to be affected by mining activities. The Ahafo mine is one of the largest gold mines in the Republic of Ghana and in the world. The mine is located in the center of the country in Brong-Ahafo Region.The mine has estimated reserves of 17 million ounces of gold. The company has been accused of "human rights abuses and irresponsible practices" by Earthworks, an environmental organization, and others. Ahafo North is the best unmined gold deposit in West Africa, with approximately 3.8 million ounces of Reserves and 1.4 million ounces of Measured, Indicated and Inferred Resources and significant upside potential to extend beyond Ahafo North’s current 13-year mine life. It expands Newmont’s existing footprint in Ghana with four open pit mines and a standalone mill located about 30 km from the Ahafo South operation. Ahafo North is expected to add between 275,000 and 325,000 ounces of gold per year, with all-in sustaining costs of $800 to $900 per ounce for the first five full years of production. Commercial production for the project is expected in the second half of 2025. Total capital costs are estimated to be between $950 million and $1,050 million. ..............................................
