First things first, you will need to get your guitar into the proper tuning. The tuning Keith Richards employs for the acoustic guitar parts of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is called open E tuning. That basically means you tune your guitar so that the open strings create a complete E Major chord. That tuning, starting from the 6th string is (E B E G# B E). After that, you will then need to place a capo at the 8th fret. I will work you through the entire tuning process in the video lesson. Now that we are in tune we can begin learning that opening guitar riff/verse that is instantly recognizable to any classic rock guitar lover. It is pretty simple to play and is built around just two basic chords. There are also a few fills thrown in there and in true Keith Richards style, those fills don't really repeat themselves very much. But I will show you a pretty good way of building fills around a couple of simple licks. There is a little transition chord that requires a small barre that is followed quickly by a fill as well. Pretty simple stuff to play though. The chorus is just a simplified version of the verse riff. I chose not to try and break down every little electric guitar fill and solo throughout the song since they pretty much last the entire song. What we have here in this lesson is the acoustic guitar foundation of the song which will sound great to sing along with. Hope you guys enjoy learning this classic from The Rolling Stones! #youcantalwaysgetwhatyouwant #therollingstones #guitarcovers Carl...
