古来から伝わる天然の防腐・防虫剤「柿渋」を、お寺の境内に実る渋柿から手作りしました。 海善寺には約8本の渋柿の木があります。 今年は100kgの渋柿を収穫し、臼で4時間以上かけて粉砕。 寺の修復・修繕に使う防腐・防虫塗料を、境内の柿から作るー まさに「地産地消」の精神で取り組んだプロジェクトです。 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 柿渋とは？ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 柿渋（かきしぶ）は、青い渋柿を粉砕・発酵・圧搾して作る天然液体です。 タンニンを豊富に含み、防腐・防虫・防水効果があることから、 古くから木材や紙、布の保護に使われてきました。 絞りたてはグレーがかった色ですが、 1年熟成すると赤褐色に変わり、 2〜3年経つとさらに深みのある色になります。 今回は約80リットルの柿渋を作成。 寺の建物の柱や梁などの保護に活用していきます。 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ チャンネルについて ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ このチャンネルでは、古いお寺をセルフリノベーションで再生させるプロジェクトを記録しています。 できる限り地元の素材・知恵を活かしながら、一人で修復作業を進めています。 チャンネル登録・高評価をいただけると励みになります！ I made "Kakishibu" — a traditional Japanese natural wood preservative — from astringent persimmons grown right here on the temple grounds. Kaizenji Temple has about 8 persimmon trees. This year, I harvested 100kg of astringent persimmons and spent 4 grueling hours crushing them by hand with a traditional mortar. Fighting through tendinitis, this is the solo record of that entire process. The concept: use persimmons from the temple's own garden to make the preservative that protects the temple's buildings. True local production for local consumption. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What is Kakishibu? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Kakishibu is a traditional Japanese liquid made by crushing, fermenting, and pressing unripe astringent persimmons. Rich in tannins, it has natural preservative, insect-repellent, and water-resistant properties, and has been used for centuries to protect wood, paper, and fabric. Freshly pressed, it appears grayish. After one year of aging, it turns reddish-brown. After 2–3 years, the color deepens even further. This batch yielded approximately 80 liters of kakishibu, which will be used to protect the wooden pillars and wall panels of the temple. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ About this channel ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This channel documents a solo self-renovation project to restore and revive an old Japanese temple.
