Foods should be eaten in clean and calm surroundings ~ use all 5 senses and become present with your food 2. Eat food prepared with love 3. Give thanks before eating 4. Avoid distractions while eating ~ give your food proper attention. This allows your digestive system to solely focus on the task at hand. 5. Chew food slowly and thoroughly ~ the more you chew and break down your food the easier it is for your digestive system to process. 6. Avoid cold foods and drinks ~ warm foods are best to aid your digestive fire (agni), this allows the enzymes to work more efficiently. 7. Drink only small amount of liquid with meals ~ ½ cup to help keep digestion lubricated but not too much where it weakens digestion 8. Listen to your body ~ eat only when hungry and stop when you are satisfied (75%) 9. Wait at least 3 hours between meals for proper digestion ~ this allows proper time for the body to fully digest a meal. 10. Eat all 6 tastes at every meal ~ sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, astringent Bonus tips: Choose organic whenever possible Choose foods that are local and fresh as much as possible Choose unprocessed foods Choose more plants Start by picking just one or two to focus on.
