We don't even have a good scientific term for the female anatomy that science journalist and author Rachel E Gross writes about in her book 'Vagina Obscura'. The 'reproductive system' is the usual term, "which includes the vulva, the clitoris, the vagina, the ovaries and the uterus and all the tubes and plumbing therein," explains Gross. But to her, this term is too limited: "All of these organs are doing so much more than making a baby or waiting around to potentially make a baby. They're involved in regeneration, immunity, pleasure, sexuality."
