Calea Victoriei is a major avenue in central Bucharest, one of the most charming places in the city. It is one of the oldest streets in Bucharest. Also, this was the first paved street in Romania (1842). The road was built in 1692 by the Romanian ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu who wanted to link the royal court (in the old town) with his palace in Mogosoaia (a village to the north of the capital).
