Villa Apollon, a private holiday home located on the southern edge of the Greek island of Lefkada, seamlessly combines contemporary architecture with the surrounding natural landscape. Completed in early 2021, the villa was meticulously designed by Block722 architects, known for their unique fusion of Greek and Scandinavian heritage, resulting in a residence that embraces the beauty of its environment while respecting the green surroundings. Perched on a cliffside overlooking the mesmerizing blue waters of the Ionian Sea, the villa is accessed through an entry point at the highest point, guiding visitors down a wide ramp to the main house. From there, a series of paved terraces and a narrow, natural path lead to a secluded rocky beach below, offering a sensorial journey from the lush green forest entry to the captivating shoreline. The challenging incline of the terrain called for a creative solution - the house was partially submerged into the earth, following the natural topographic lines and becoming almost invisible from the street above. This design approach not only harmoniously integrated the villa with the landscape but also allowed for breathtaking sea views from the interior. Upon entering the villa, one is greeted by expansive vistas and a clear view of the living room, offering a dramatic and impressive space. From the entrance, the horizon of the sea can already be glimpsed. The main house features a spacious open plan living area, accompanied by a master suite and two additional bedrooms, all oriented towards the picturesque views. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen and a shaded dining area, next to a swimming pool, invite residents to embrace the outdoor lifestyle. Emphasizing the villa's connection to the natural surroundings, natural materials, including floor-to-ceiling glass with iroko wood framing, local stone, and terrazzo, were carefully incorporated into the interiors. The contemporary wooden ceiling made of teak slats becomes a central highlight in the living spaces, adding warmth to the minimalist design. The serene and discreet charm of Villa Apollon is heightened by its intentional orientation towards the sea, embracing natural light and capturing incomparable sunsets. This private retreat is a tranquil sanctuary, harmoniously blending with the natural elements of the earth and the enchanting emerald waters of the Ionian Sea.
