The USC Young Scientists Program strives to deliver quality science education weekly to a handful of LAUSD elementary schools. Due to the pandemic and prominence of virtual learning, videos like this one are being made to distribute to the teachers. This week, we will be investigating weathering and erosion! We shall also be featuring non-dominant scientists such as women, and BIPOC individuals that you may or may not have heard of that relate to the science being featured. The scientist being featured here is Claudia Alexander. Claudia Alexander was a Canadian-born American research scientist specializing in geophysics and planetary science. She worked for the United States Geological Survey and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Video created by Katherine Shiu NGSS Essential Standards and Clarifying Objectives: 4-ESS2-1. Make observations and/or measurements to provide evidence of the effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation. This video was funded by the USC Good Neighbors Campaign Grant.
