A comprehensive suite of driver assistance features comes standard across the range. Starting at £34,695, the Austral is priced at the higher end of its segment. While it offers style and technology in spades, competitors like the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan provide better overall packages for similar money. Verdict: The Renault Austral brings eye-catching design and clever features like rear-wheel steering to the mid-size SUV class. However, its firm ride and merely average practicality hold it back from true class-leading status.
