Raghurajpur Tour Guide : • Raghurajpur: The Heritage Village Of Odish... A small village of Darjeeling district. Serene nature, chirping of birds, views of mountains, distinct clear view of Mountain Kanchenjunga these all describes Dawaipani. We started for Dawaipani from Sealdah station by Padatik Mail. We reached New Jalpaiguri Junction early morning. Distance of Dawaipani from NJP is about 80 km and it takes almost 4 hours to reach there. We took our cab towards Dawaipani. Crossed Siliguri, Sukna, Rohini & now mountains are visible infront of eyes. We crossed this path many times before but every time it gives the same immense pleasure. Just after crossing Kurseong, small track of toy-train & foggy mountains became our companion. If you want to take share cab to Dawaipani then take share cab of Darjeeling from Siliguri and reach Jorbangla. From there take another share cab upto 6 Mile Bazar, then final journey to Dawaipani by car sent from homestay. We booked a whole car from New Jalpaiguri . Car fare is approx. Rs 3500/. Cab Driver Name : Koumad Chamling (7407418832) Just after crossing Jorbangla our car took right turn towards Dawaipani then before 6 Mile Bazar our car took left turn from main road. We noticed Dawaipani Milestone. Finally we reached to Dawaipani. Our stay will be at ‘Pine Hill’ homestay. Pine Hill homestay is situated at the Upper Dawaipani. From Dawaipani one can visit some more nearby tourist places. As weather was not clear/ sunny so we planned to visit Lamahatta park after having lunch. We had lunch with rice, dal, sabji, egg curry. From dining hall of Dawaipani Mt. Kanchenjunga can be clearly seen. After lunch we came to Lamahatta park. The park is amidst the Pine forest. After buying tickets we entered the park & at first started journey towards the Lake situated at the top of the park. By hiking some path you have to reach the lake & it will take almost 35-40 mins. One has to reach there within 5 pm. If you are planning to visit Lamahatta park please do visit the lake. Finally we reached the lake. A small lake surrounded by Pine forest. We spent few moments there and then came down to the main park. Main park is beautifully decorated with flowers. We spent time there & finally returned to our homestay at Dawaipani. Authentic hot momo in authentic container was served in homestay. In the evening temperature was quite low. Houses on the distant mountains were looking like fireflies. We were called for Campfire. Campfire, gossip over a cup of tea along with roasted chicken made the evening perfect. Then after taking rest for a while we got call for dinner. We enjoyed our dinner with Roti, Chicken, Dal, Paneer. Although Dawaipani is an offbeat destination of North Bengal but surprisingly there is no problem of power cut. Best time to visit Dawaipani is from September to April. As weather remain clear so chances of viewing Kanchenjunga increases. You can visit Dawaipani any time of the year. In rainy season cloudy, foggy Dawaipani will look mesmerizing. ------------------------------------------------------ Lets Connect : Twitter (Abhijit) - / abhijit_basak83 Facebook Profile (Abhijit) - / abhijit.basak.16 Facebook Profile (Anindita) - / anindita.paulbasak Facebook Page - / abhbask01 Instagram (Abhijit) - / abhbask Instagram (Anindita) - / aninditapaulbasak Email - abhbask@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------------
