This is a comparison of Boss' best Tape Echo emulations, starting from the RE-20 Space Echo that is already a classic. Every single pedal sounds great, but the fidelity of the repeats makes the difference. The Boss DD-8, even if really sounds great as a warm delay, offers repeats that are more in the analog territory rather than being true to the classic tapes of the past. The RE-20 shines in replicating the features and behaviour of the original Roland RE-201 and is one of the greatest delay pedals ever, but still lacks something in the repeats to be true to the original. DD-200 and RV500 are more hi-fi and detailed, very true to the original units they take the inspiration from and the quality of the repeats is accurate.
