Kurosawa's frequent star, Toshiro Mifune, plays a Japanese executive whose family becomes the target of a kidnapping scheme. He must decide whether to pay the ransom to rescue his driver's young son or use the money to take over the shoe company where he's on the board. This is one of the master filmmaker's absolute greats.
