(10 Nov 2008) HEADLINE: Pakistani Pres.: Obama will bring new look to issues --------------------------------------- CAPTION: The Pakistani President says he is expecting a new look at all the issues when President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office. Asif Ali Zardari talked to Barack Obama shortly after his victory on Tuesday. (Nov. 10) ---------------------------------------- APTN STORY NUMBER: 584895 SHOTLIST 1. Wide exterior of Parliament House 2. Mid interior of Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, about to give interview 3. SOUNDBITE (English) Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan: (Question: The missile strikes, which are continuing, does that upset you?) "Well the missile, it's not question of upset, the question is that it is not, it's counter productive as far as, we are the indigenous people on the ground and any solution that needs to come has to be indigenous and has to be home grown. So in the home grown solutions this is one of the obstacles rather than a facilitator, so we've been protesting at very strike and we shall continue to protest until and unless we come to an understanding with the allied forces and the super power to look it from our angle and our position." 4. Wide of Zardari being interviewed 5. Close up of photo of slain prime minister, and Zardari's late wife, Benazir Bhutto 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan: "I think from where it was we took over it's, we are in much better place but to say it's gone away and has diminished totally I wouldn't say that say, that's not possible." (Question: When you say better place what you mean sir?) "That we've improved the situation comparatively where by they had a free hand and could roam around without check that's not there. We've used the force of the government and they've realised there is a force here and there's a party here, and there's the people of Pakistan are to be reckoned with and we've got the people involved and its people war against some miscreants." 7. Cutaways of reporter 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan: "But over and above that we feel that it's an intrusion in our sovereignty and which is not appreciated by the people at large and the first aspect of this war is to win the hearts and mind of the people." 9. Mid of Zardari being interviewed 10. SOUNDBITE (English) Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan "Well I'm not aware of that. As you know that we've been in government now 61 days to be precise and it hasn't, nothing has come to my notice that would make us believe that (al-Qaida leader) Osama bin Laden or his colleagues are any where close to our territory and the world powers and super powers and all the NATO forces have been in the region and operational with much better equipment and much better knowledge than Pakistan and we are from the last seven and half years, so I think some where around the line they would know better." 11. Mid of Zardari being interviewed 12. SOUNDBITE (English) Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan: "We are all expecting a new look to all the issues. I think the expectations are high throughout the world. Now let's see how far we can be part of the solution and we can assist (US President-Elect Barack) Obama to become...president-elect Obama to come up with the world solution to a lot of problems. I think that's the way to look at it, is to be part of the world agenda and be a useful player in the family of countries." 13. Cutaway of reporters 14.
